hey Katherine, i needed to hear that so THANK YOU!I am -like a lot of us- intrigued by fog and the intangible and I consciously wanted to approach the painting process differently, which I did, and so far am embracing this direction *but always feels so great to hear ayes from others!!!!!..
Wow you did it! this is some great painting! capturing a misty atmosphere is not easy and you have done it beautifully. I also like the composition and the format of two canvases together, the size of the works is important too so that the viewer can feel as if they are a part of the scene too. The best bit to me is the colours you have used which can give a great deal of trouble yet you have balanced the warms and cool greys and browns together very well.
Caroline thanks for your honest feedback--from a master of mood I so appreciate it. What I found most challenging was the background where fog meets/overlaps the horizon line--and, working 'live', every time I looked out it had shifted..
