Upcoming workshop at the Grimsby Public Art Gallery:
Painting the Still Life Lively Alla Prima (Italian, meaning at first attempt), may also be referred to as 'direct painting'. It is a method in which layers of wet paint are applied to previous layers of wet paint. This technique requires a fast way of working, and usually has to be finished before the first layers of paint have dried. Jan will demonstrate how to achieve a fresh and painterly effect that incorporates alla prima techniques. You will work from a colourful still life set up featuring seasonal foliage and interesting objects. This series is suitable for those with a general knowledge of paint handling. A material list will be provided upon registration. Mom, oil on canvas, alla prima, 10x8in, 2010
Bonjour,
Gros bisous.
